El Horno de la Abuela is a cozy Mediterranean and Spanish restaurant tucked away on a quieter street in Playa Blanca, offering a dining experience that feels both intimate and authentically local. It’s the kind of spot where the size of the place—around 40 seats—means everything is cooked fresh and with care, avoiding any rush or mass production.

The atmosphere here leans toward relaxed and inviting, with a background of softly played saxophone music adding to the laid-back yet refined vibe. Those who appreciate classic Spanish cuisine with occasional Argentinian twists will find a well-curated menu that highlights dishes like black rice with prawns and squid, tender fillet steaks with pepper sauce, and locally inspired specialties including suckling pig with perfectly crunchy crackling and house-prepared goat.

This restaurant seems particularly suited for quiet dinners, date nights, or small groups seeking good conversation alongside carefully prepared food. The staff come across as genuinely welcoming and attentive without feeling overbearing, enhancing the overall comfort of the visit. Alongside the main courses, guests often enjoy a thoughtful touch of mini tapas served while waiting, signaling a focus on customer experience.

Food quality clearly takes precedence here – with well-balanced grilled fish, rich meat dishes, and traditional plates like gambas al ajillo and garlic soup reflecting a connection to local culinary customs. Prices, especially for drinks, stand out as reasonable compared to other Playa Blanca options, making it a practical choice for those wanting excellent food without inflated costs.

Given its tucked-away location, this restaurant is a welcome break from the busier main strip, offering a more authentic, unhurried environment. It is best visited in the evenings when the ambiance feels just right and the kitchen can focus fully on delivering the quality dishes that locals and repeat visitors appreciate.

Without a doubt the best place to eat in Playa Blanca. The meat was excellent and staff was friendly and also very professional.

Lovely chilled atmosphere with some top tier saxophone music. Service wonderful. The suckling pig was outrageously good, the crackling was spot on and the house goat was on another level of flavour. Definitely one of the best restaurants we have eaten at in Lanzarote

Been coming here for date night for years! Classic Spanish food with Argentinian influences. Paella is great value, generous portion and filled with meat / fish. Fish of the day (sea bass) was grilled and seasoned perfectly, served with potatoes and veg. Would definitely recommend! Service was incredible with completely mini tapas while we were waiting for our Mains. Will always be going back and recommending to friends.

We found this little gem tucked away whilst wandering the back streets. It is not the biggest restaurant with about 40 covers hence food quality is excellent with everything cooked to order. The menu is not the largest but varied from traditional dishes to meat & fish. The service spot on and the price of drinks comparing to Playa Blanca overall were very competitive. Large Beer 2 euro!! On our next visit to playa blanca we would definately return. Only negative, when busy it can get a bit noisy with everyone chatting.

Lovely little place tucked down the back streets near the the main strip. It feels like a really authentic little restaurant that seems like it must have been there forever. The waiters were very welcoming and the food was delicious. If you’re looking for a really authentic meal, you will not be disappointed with this place.

Went there for lunch and we were the only ones there! The arroz negro was very tasty and the portion was big. What really blew us away though were their MOJO Rojo and MOJO verde. the best!!! The guy who served us Chemaá was very attentive and friendly.
